‘La Maquila’ holiday cottage is in the Sierra de Grazalema nature reserve, in a beautiful valley called Ribera del Gaidovar. This simple cottage is on a rural property of 3,500m2; surrounded by countryside, it’s a great place to spend time with friends or family in harmony with nature.
The house was once an important mill that flourished in the 19th century thanks to a thriving flour industry.
The property is now refurbished and has been split in two houses. It is possible to rent both for 20 guests maximum.
La Maquila cottage has a wonderful porch in the garden with views of the Gaidovar River – a magical spot for a refreshing dip during the hotter summer months.
The interior of the house transmits simplicity and serenity, while the traditional terracotta flooring gives warmth. The rustic colours and decoration have been chosen with care. The distribution has also been thought out well: on the first floor, there is a living space, a bathroom and three bedrooms (two double rooms and one family room with bunkbeds). The ground floor has an open-plan kitchen and living room, and a bathroom. The house sleeps 9 people.
The communal areas consist of a swimming pool, 2 barbecue areas and a garden with fruit trees (cherry, loquat, apple, fig, persimmon, plum, peach and quince trees). We welcome you to enjoy the fruit and help us take care of the trees.
The Gaidovar river flows at the foot of the property, providing a refreshing spot to cool down in during the hotter summer months. There are many pretty paths nearby for enjoying nature.
It is possible to park on the premises.
The village of Grazalema is 6km away; a well-known village among lovers of the Sierra and nature, with many opportunities for hiking and discovering the unique landscape and diverse flora and fauna, such as Griffon Vultures, Spanish Ibex, deer, the Grazalema Poppy, a rich variety of orchids, and of course, the famous Pinsapo (Spanish Fir).
